Dr. John Meyer, DDS
About:
Dr. John Meyer has been actively practicing dentistry in the Des Moines area since 1981. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State University in 1977. He continued his education at Creighton University where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1981.
Dr. Meyer treats his patients like they are family. Forming a professional bond with patients and staff is his specialty.
Dr. Meyer has five children and nine grandchildren. He enjoys biking and has ridden on over 40 RAGBRAI rides. In 2024 he completed a coast to coast bike ride across America. He is also an active member of his church where he sings in the choir and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is proud of his office sculptures, landscaping, and flowers. He is very grateful for his outstanding staff and enjoys being able to work with two of his daughters.
Dr. Ali Meyer
About:
Dr. Ali Meyer grew up in West Des Moines. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 2012 where she studied Human Nutrition and Spanish. She continued her education at Creighton University School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2016.
Dr. Ali is a member of the American Dental Association and Iowa Dental Association. She enjoys connecting with her patients to provide them with the best options for their individual needs. She enjoys all areas of dentistry and enjoys learning about the newest advances in dentistry so that her patients receive the highest quality care possible.
Dr. Ali enjoys running, biking, and reading in her free time. She lives in Beaverdale with her husband Matt and daughter Annie.
Dr. Emily McCalley
About:
Dr. Emily McCalley grew up in a close-knit, rural community in Illinois, where she spent
her early years playing volleyball and helping out in her family’s greenhouse business.
Her passion for working with people and creating healthy, confident smiles began early
on and continued to grow throughout her education.
While attending the University of Northern Iowa, Emily became a Registered Dental
Assistant and gained hands-on experience by working chairside for six years, both
during her undergraduate studies and through dental school. She earned her Bachelor
of Arts in Biology and Spanish, with a minor in Chemistry, in 2020. She then completed
her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2025.
Known for her warm and compassionate care, Dr. McCalley brings a personal touch to
dentistry that helps patients feel at ease. In addition to providing dental care in English,
Dr. McCalley is fluent in Spanish and is happy to serve Spanish-speaking patients in
their preferred language. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys traveling, gardening, spending
time outdoors with her dog Maggie, and volunteering with various community
organizations.
Dr. McCalley looks forward to building lasting relationships with her patients and helping
them achieve healthy, happy smiles.
